Cosmo Philharmonic Completes First BCS Music Tour in New York
Congratulations to the members of the Cosmo Philharmonic on completing their first tour. The tour was from April 22 to April 30, 2023, and focused on two locations: New York City, NY and Livingston, NJ.
After arrival, the musicians enjoyed taking in all the NYC sights via 25 km of packed walking tours from central park to the Brooklyn Bridge and everywhere in between. During the tour’s middle days, we developed close bonds with students from the Newark Academy in Livingston. These days were filled with a hot welcome, collaborative music-making, classes, and sports games while staying in homestays.
All participants are eager to welcome Newark Academy students to Berlin in 2024. The cultural exchange concluded with an outstanding performance at the middle school night of the arts. After returning to Manhattan, Cosmo Phil got a different perspective on the skyline from the Empire State Building observation deck. He had just enough time to join the Mannes School of Music preparatory program members featuring a portion of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 and Piano Concerto in C major. On the journey back, students were already thinking about where we could go next year on tour.
