IT classes of Grade 9 and 10 visit HERE technologies

Last Thursday, December 7th, students of the IT class Grade 9 and 10 had the opportunity to visit HERE Technologies, a big IT Global Company with about 1000 employees only in Berlin and sites in USA, India, Israel, etc. We were kindly welcomed by Mr. Frank Janisch who is the Head of Product Development Practices at HERE technologies. The students learned about what HERE technologies is and what the company does.

They also met the automotive team and learned how data tracking works as well as what tools and instruments the company uses to geo-reference a car. This topic raised a discussion on privacy issues later on. Finally, the students got the chance to meet the innovation team of IoT (Internet of Things). The IT teacher of Grade 9 and 10, Ms Montanari said that the students found this field trip “… very interesting because they could have a look at some possible real life applications of IT.” We would like to warmly thank HERE Technologies and Mr. Janisch for having opened their doors to so many BCS students.
