Second Grade Excursion to ESMT: Exploring “Why Money is Useful”
On March 6th, 2025, the second-grade students of the Berlin Cosmopolitan School will visit the European School of Management and Technology (ESMT) at Schlossplatz 1, Berlin, for an engaging and educational excursion from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM**.
This interactive session, titled “Why Money is Useful,” aims to introduce young learners to fundamental economic concepts through hands-on activities and discussions. Hosted on the iconic Museumsinsel, this event promises to make learning about money both fun and impactful.
Learning Objectives
The session will use role-playing and practical exercises to illustrate:
1. The Role of Money in Trade*
- Students will imagine and act out a world without money, engaging in barter trade to exchange items directly.
- They will then experience a world with money, learning how it simplifies and facilitates trade.
2. The Importance of Savings
- Through guided discussions, students will explore how money can be saved and why saving is important for planning and future needs.
These activities are designed to give students a foundational understanding of how money functions in everyday life and its broader role in the economy.
A Partnership for Learning
This collaboration with ESMT reflects Berlin Cosmopolitan School’s commitment to providing real-world learning experiences that inspire curiosity and critical thinking. By exposing students to institutions like ESMT, we aim to connect academic concepts to practical applications, nurturing informed, globally minded individuals.
We look forward to an exciting and insightful morning and thank ESMT, especially David Ronayne, for their support in making this unique learning experience possible.
