For the birds unit, students explored the visual qualities of birds, considering line, texture and colour as they tried to draw from observation. we then had a fun activity of making bird masks with cut out coloured paper feathers and with pencil, pen and paint applied. 5th grade worked on an animation project at the end of the year. For the unit on games, students thought about and came up with their own themed dice based board games that contained characters who progressed through an adventure, quest or story towards a goal with various encounters and setbacks along the way.
