Read onOn January 27, 2026, the Max-Schmeling-Hall in Berlin became a major basketball stage for young athletes — and right in the middle of it were the girls of Berlin Cosmopolitan School (BCS). They competed in the ALBA Elementary School League preliminary round in the WK IV Girls Rookie category.
The team met early in the morning at the primary school campus before traveling together to the venue. The tournament followed a round-robin format, meaning each team played several short, high-energy games that demanded focus, teamwork, and quick decisions.
For many BCS students, this was one of their first major tournaments. Excitement, concentration, and the determination to grow as a team were clearly visible throughout the day. The group was coached by Nico Adamczak, a former professional basketball player who now works as a youth coach and aspiring psychologist, together with Oumar, who both lead the girls’ basketball club at BCS.
On the court, the players demonstrated what school sports at BCS stand for: fair play, team spirit, perseverance, and the courage to take responsibility. Each game brought new learning experiences — fast-paced plays, strong defense, and enthusiastic support from the sidelines.
The team finished the tournament in an excellent 4th place in their competition class S45C-1i26012717240 — a strong achievement at a large Berlin tournament and an important step in the players’ athletic development.
Participation in the ALBA Elementary School League highlights the importance of physical education, team sports, and personal growth in the educational philosophy of Berlin Cosmopolitan School. At BCS, sports are about more than competition — they help students build confidence, learn to handle success and setbacks, and develop a sense of responsibility for one another.
Our sincere thanks go to the coaching team and supportive families — and above all to our players, who brought such energy and enthusiasm to the court.
