Travelling the World – in French: A Creative Final Project in Grade 7
What better way to end the school year than by embarking on an adventure?
Our Grade 7 French students did exactly that — through imagination, creativity, and, of course, the French language.
As part of their final project, students planned an entire holiday in French from start to finish. They selected a destination, designed a detailed travel itinerary, researched accommodation and transport, planned exciting activities, and even imagined an unexpected challenge along the way before finding a creative solution.
Language in Real-Life Contexts
To complete their journey, students wrote postcards, shared travel reviews, and presented their projects entirely in French.
Through role-play, they also explored authentic situations such as booking hotel rooms or purchasing train and plane tickets. In this way, French became more than a classroom subject — it became a practical tool for communication.
Creativity Without Shortcuts
What made the projects especially impressive was the students’ creativity and craftsmanship.
Rather than relying on artificial intelligence or online translation tools, every project was developed by hand. This encouraged students to apply the language skills they had built throughout the year while expressing their own ideas in original and personal ways.
Imaginative Journeys
The results were as diverse as they were imaginative.
One group created a beautifully illustrated travel diary documenting an adventurous journey around the world in search of their missing cat. Another designed an interactive suitcase that revealed different stages of their holiday, while others presented an original comic book, invented their own dream island destination, or planned an unforgettable road trip through Austria and Italy in a camper van — accompanied by several four-legged travel companions.
More Than a Language Project
The project not only strengthened students’ confidence in speaking French, but also demonstrated how language learning becomes truly meaningful when combined with creativity, collaboration, and real-world situations.
Bravo to all our Grade 7 French students for bringing their travel dreams to life — and for proving that the best journeys sometimes begin in the classroom.
