Caribou Maths Contest 2017/18

The Caribou Mathematics Competition is a world wide online Maths contest that is held throughout the school year. The aim is to improve student’s problem solving techniques by providing a wide variety of challenging problems. This year BCS students competed online against schools in Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China, Iran, Sudan, Sweden and the US. Five students during competitions in October, November and January came within the world top 10%. Four students are pictured here. These students were from grade 6, Ziad (top 8%) and Yannick (top 8%). From grade 7, Quinn (top 1%), and from grade 8, Michael (top 3%), and from grade 10, Oliver (top 9%).

In the May contest, two students were in the world top 50 students who participated in the contest. The students were David in grade 10 who was 38th out of 452, and Quinn in grade 7 who was 42nd with full points out of an amazing 6,705 students, which is incredible. Seven students in total came within the world top 20% for the competition held in May. These students are, Lucia (top 6%), Yigit (top 8%), Yiding (top 20%) from grade 6. Quinn (top 1%), Jonas (top 4%), Michael (top 20%) (grade 7-8) and David (top 9%) in grade 10.
