Model UN Club at BERMUN 2

7th March, 2019

Over the weekend, students from Model Un Club participated in BERMUN 2, the annual Model United Nations (MUN) Conference here in Berlin at the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung.  Our students debated various topics relating to this year’s conference theme, “Advance Climate Action: The Key to a Sustainable Future.”  Students in the Security Council, for example, debated how to deal with the situation in the Sahel region.

Other topics included implementing measures to tackle the spread of infectious diseases influenced by climate change and ending energy overconsumption.

Also part of the conference was a mock trial simulation of the International Court of Justice where two students saw evidence and made judgements on the ICJ case Argentina v. Uruguay: Pulp Mills on the River Uruguay (2010).  Moreover, this year, three BCS DP students also had leadership roles at the conference.  Leoni was President of the International Court of Justice, Zoe was President of the Security Council, and Jillian was co-Chair for the Environmental Committee.
