BCS at BERMUN 2

13th March, 2018

Over the weekend, students from Berlin Cosmopolitan School (BCS) participated in BERMUN 2, the annual Model United Nations (MUN) Conference here in Berlin at the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung. Our students debated various topics relating to this year’s conference theme, “Technological Innovations — Mitigating Risks and Seizing Opportunities.”

Students in the Security Council, for example, debated how to deal with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s violation of the Non-Proliferation Treaty. Other topics included international regulations on cyber-warfare and digital counter-terrorism and defining the boundary between intellectual property and the common domain to allow for universal scientific development.

This year, two BCS 10th graders also had special roles at the conference. Leoni participated in a simulation of the International Court of Justice as a judge and Zoe was the Assistant President of the Security Council. Thanks to Mr. Thach, BCS’ MUN club teacher for all his hard work!
