A Stage for Ideas, A Space for Courage: TEDx Berlin Cosmopolitan School Youth 2026
The auditorium fell silent — then thoughtful, then inspired.
At the 8th edition of TEDx Berlin Cosmopolitan School Youth, students from primary through secondary school demonstrated what happens when young people are given a real platform: they rise to it with depth, creativity, and remarkable clarity.
Knowledge As Something We Choose
Under this year’s theme, Knowledge, the event explored a powerful shift in perspective.
Knowledge was no longer presented as something we passively receive, but as something we actively choose. This idea resonated strongly in one particularly moving talk by a student who had recently arrived from Afghanistan. Reflecting on a time without access to formal schooling, she described how learning continued nonetheless — driven by curiosity, initiative, and personal responsibility.
In that moment, the audience was invited to reconsider a fundamental question: are we truly engaging with knowledge,
or simply accessing it?
A Wide Range of Voices and Questions
Across the stage, a wide range of topics unfolded.
Secondary students explored personal transformation, the challenges of misinformation, and the growing influence of artificial intelligence — not only in terms of what it can do, but how it might shape the way we think and learn.
At the same time, the contributions from our primary students brought a refreshing and powerful perspective to the theme. With curiosity and honesty, they approached big ideas in accessible and often surprising ways.
Wonder, Science, and the Natural World
One presentation on orcas stood out in particular.
It combined scientific knowledge with a deep sense of fascination for the natural world and reminded the audience that the foundations of knowledge are built early:
through asking questions, making connections, and seeing the world with open eyes — helping us to protect it.
Music and Dance As Ways of Thinking and Feeling
Music and dance once again played a central role in the event.
A young student on bass held the stage with quiet confidence, while dance performances brought both elegance and energy.
One particularly striking moment came when a student presented and performed her own electronic composition live — transforming sound into an immersive experience that left the audience in awe.
Authenticity on Stage
What connected all these contributions was a shared sense of authenticity.
There was no sense of performance for its own sake — only the genuine desire to explore ideas, to question, and to communicate something meaningful.
TEDx Berlin Cosmopolitan School Youth once again made clear that when students are trusted with responsibility and given space to express themselves, they do not fill it with noise — they fill it with substance.
More Than a School Event
This was more than a school event.
It was a glimpse of the future.
