Music brings us together – The first “Welcome Back” Concert at BCS
The concert featured a wonderful mixture of classes, advanced ensembles, and, for the first time, our community choirs.
Just before the autumn break, the Aula of the Berlin Cosmopolitan School filled with the sound of music, laughter, and community spirit.
The BCS Music Department hosted the very first “Welcome Back” School Concert, an event that takes place every year before Autumn Break to celebrate the start of the new school year together with students, parents, and teachers.
The evening opened with the BCS Symphoria Orchestra performing an energetic arrangement of Pirates of the Caribbean, followed by performances from the G7 Strings Class (Eleanor Rigby) and the BCS Concert Band (Ye Banks and Braes o’ Bonnie Doon). The Advanced Guitar Ensemble charmed the audience with Every Breath You Take and Wonderwall, while the G7 and G10 Vocal Classes added their own touch with moving renditions of Let it Be and Stand by Me.
The event was a great success, with an enthusiastic turnout of families, friends, and staff members. It reflected not only the dedication of our students and teachers but also the strong sense of community that defines the BCS spirit.
A highlight of the evening was the performance by the Cosmo Philharmonic Orchestra and Chamber Players, whose versions of Waltz No. 2 by Dmitri Shostakovich and Ghosts of Brandenburg by Richard Meyer impressed with musical depth and precision.
The concert closed with a powerful jazz moment: the BCS Jazz Ensemble’s performance of All Blues by Miles Davis.
The event was a great success, with an enthusiastic turnout of families, friends, and staff members. It reflected not only the dedication of our students and teachers but also the strong sense of community that defines the BCS spirit.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Ms. Bridget Kinneary, Mr. Colin Lloyd, Mr. Ben Salsbury, Mr. Sascha Pavlovic, and Mr. Joey Ryan, who, together with their students, made this evening a memorable celebration of music and togetherness.
The “Welcome Back” Concert beautifully reflected what music means at BCS: connection, creativity, and community. We are already looking forward to next year’s edition!
