On 11 November, St. Martin’s Day is celebrated in many regions of Germany – a date traditionally associated with lantern festivals, stories and lights for children. Families at the Berlin Cosmopolitan School have the opportunity to celebrate this day together with a culinary treat this year:

The Müggelseeperle restaurant is inviting BCS families to enjoy a classic St. Martin’s goose dinner on the evening of 11 November. The offer is open to all parents and children who would like to end the day together after their own lantern celebrations or family activities.

The tradition of eating goose on St. Martin’s Day dates back to St. Martin of Tours. Legend has it that Martin hid so that he would not be appointed bishop – but cackling geese gave him away. This legend gave rise to the custom of eating goose on St. Martin’s Day.

Today, this communal meal combines cultural tradition with family time and culinary enjoyment.

BCS parents receive an additional 10% discount on the menu.
