Nature education at BCS – Learning with all the senses
At BCS, nature is an integral part of learning.
It is part of our identity. Learning in and with nature means opening up the classroom: the space, the senses and the mind. Children and young people experience the environment not as a backdrop, but as an active learning partner.
Our nature education combines research, discovery and experience.
Our nature education is a central element of the BCS Real Life Programme and combines research, discovery and experience. Walking barefoot across forest floors, listening to the wind, feeling the ground beneath your feet – every element becomes a teacher. “Nature has no walls – and neither should education.”
Mindfulness, creativity and community
We create learning spaces that promote mindfulness, creativity and community. Here, not only is knowledge imparted, but self-confidence, empathy and responsibility also grow. Each season tells a different story:
- Spring inspires
- Summer invigorates
- Autumn reflects
- Winter teaches patience
Falling down is a form of learning
Our pupils learn to assess risks, make decisions and see themselves as part of a larger whole. Team spirit, resilience and compassion can be experienced in nature. Because falling down is a form of learning – failure is understood as a natural part of growth.
Between green and screen.
The educational programmes offered by BCS Nature Education promote sustainable thinking and behaviour, ecological awareness and emotional intelligence. They strike a balance between learning and living – between green and screen.
