Exploring the world of economics: Grade 11 students visit Frankfurt
Each year, the Economics students from Grade 11 at Berlin Cosmopolitan School embark on an educational journey to Frankfurt, Germany’s financial hub. This year’s excursion offered a unique and insightful experience, providing students with a deeper understanding of economic policies, financial institutions, and the complexities of the global economy.
The trip began with a visit to the Money Museum of the Deutsche Bundesbank, where students explored the fascinating topic of counterfeit money. Through interactive exhibits and expert insights, they learned about the security features of banknotes and the ongoing efforts to combat currency fraud.
Next, the group visited the European Central Bank (ECB), where they attended an engaging lecture on monetary policy. Students also participated in an interactive quiz, enhancing their knowledge of the ECB’s role in maintaining price stability and shaping the economic landscape of the Eurozone.
One of the highlights of the trip was a visit to Deutsche Bank, where students had the opportunity to engage in a thought-provoking discussion with the Head of Macroeconomic Policy, Marc Schattenberg. The conversation covered critical topics such as the future of the global economy and the evolving challenges faced by European economies. This session provided valuable insights into the ever-changing world of economic policy and financial stability.
This annual trip remains an essential part of the curriculum, reinforcing theoretical knowledge with real-world applications and inspiring the next generation of economists and policymakers.
Berlin Cosmopolitan School remains committed to providing students with hands-on learning experiences that connect classroom knowledge to global economic realities. The Frankfurt excursion is a testament to this commitment, offering students an unforgettable glimpse into the world of economics.
