The importance of arts & crafts at Berlin Cosmopolitan School

Why are Art & Craft courses and clubs significant for students?

Art and Design courses and Art and Craft Clubs at Berlin Cosmopolitan School offer students the opportunity to explore and express their ideas and self-identity in the context of a diverse and changing world. We ensure that even those who have not considered themselves natural artists:in find confidence in redefining their artistic side in an evolving digital climate. We encourage both academic and non-academic skills in the arts. Through artistic creation, students’ voices are heard and their skills are valued.

What does Berlin Cosmopolitan School offer in the area of Arts & Crafts?

Throughout the students’ school years, from primary school to the end of secondary school, art and design lessons are integrated into the curriculum and implemented across subjects through interdisciplinary projects. This is designed to help students see the relevance and application of art in their lives. All students are also offered an extremely wide range of techniques and art lessons through our Art and Craft Clubs, ranging from 3D printing to game making, textiles, screen printing, ceramics (with access to our kiln) and much more. Exhibitions, events and gallery trips take place throughout the year.

What does the offer for the different classes include?

We offer both the Visual Arts Baccalaureate (in German) and the IBDP Visuals Arts (in English) for Years 11 and 12. Primary art lessons are taught in conjunction with the PYP and secondary art lessons according to the Berlin framework curriculum. All lessons are carefully balanced while enhancing technical and analytical skills in a positive, encouraging learning environment. Those who wish to take art and design further in life are encouraged to participate in our extracurricular art clubs as early as grades 9 and 10. The entire art programme prepares students for the two final courses and to enter the world as well-rounded individuals.
