During the unit on Migration, students were asked to think about pull factors – conditions and features of a new place that would encourage them to leave and move their current environment. We looked at the concept of utopia and at some artistic depictions of ideal and imaginary places.
For the unit on games, students thought about and came up with their own themed dice based board games that contained characters who progressed through an adventure, quest or story towards a goal with various encounters and setbacks along the way.
Our Grade 11 Leistungskurs Bildende Kunst Abitur students and Higher Level IBDP Visual Arts students had the wonderful privilege of a personal tour of Studio Tomás Saraceno’s last week.
Tomás Saraceno is an internationally renowned Argentinian artist who works with large scale complex, architectural constructions as well as other interactive and experimental pieces. Tomás collaborates with specialists from many different fields, such as architecture, engineering and arachnology, to produce his works.
In March we celebrated the graduation exhibition for the 2017 Visual Arts International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. We are very proud of our students, who put on a complex and professional show that got great feedback. A big thank you to our art teacher, Ms Clough for guiding the students along the whole way and to Mr Dulloo for creating such a great video and memory. Here the video:
