Students at Berlin Cosmopolitan School graduate from grade 10 with the German middle school degree (Mittlerer Schulabschluss/MSA). The MSA consists of two parts: the final grades of grade 10 as well as written and oral examinations.

For the MSA, each student will take written examinations in German, Maths and English. International students, who have been in Germany for less than two years, may take the Maths exam in English and may apply for an exemption of the German test, which could be replaced by a Physics, Biology or Chemistry exam in English. In addition, all students will have an oral examination in the subject English as well as a presentation exam. In the presentation exam, students may choose a subject of their choice.

The MSA (or an equivalent international diploma) is a crucial requirement in order to be accepted to the IB Diploma Programme or the bilingual Abitur at BCS.
