Yesterday Berlin Cosmopolitan School was honoured to welcome the award winning German author and Holocaust survivor Margot Friedlander. Ms. Friedlander read to the 10th, 11th and 12th grade students from her book ‘Try to make your life’ (Versuche, dein Leben zu machen: als Jüdin versteckt in Berlin, publisher rowohlt) and then answered questions.

Although the students have been studying Nazi Germany and the Holocaust in class, many remarked afterwards that the talk with Ms. Friedlander gave them a deeper, more personal connection to this dark period of our history. In this respect, we hope that Ms. Friedlander’s memories will carry long into the future.
