Having prepared for the last couple of weeks, each social studies class selected two representatives – based on their knowledge of political geography – to compete in the school-wide Geography Bee (grades 6-10). Basketball Tournament “Ball Around The World”

On Saturday the 19th of May please do come and support your school team in the first ever ´Ball Around The World´ basketball tournament! The goal of this tournament is to bring the international community together.
This week 9th Grade visited the old Stasi prison Gedenkstätte Berlin-Hohenschönhausen. This field trip included a guided tour with contemporary witnesses as well as preparation and follow-up time in the classroom as part of the curriculum. “Every year students find this field trip very interesting, but shocking and terrible at the same time”, Ethics teacher, Mr Wehrmeyer summarised the field trip.
Grade 7 went to StadtLesen at Bebelplatz today. They had fun choosing from over 3000 new books and reading outside in comfortable beanbags and hammocks. By bringing reading and pleasure together an easy and effortless way was found to encourage people to sit down and browse through books, without obligation, and to become absorbed in the world of a book in a historically very important place in Berlin.
